Longbella does it again at the 63rd Annual Tournament of Champions

Thomas Longbella finished off an excellent season by earning his 2nd CVGA Tournament of Champions victory. The former Minnesota Golden Gopher and

current PGA Tour of Canada member lapped the field by shooting a 7 under par 64 on the par 71 Eau Claire Golf and Country Club. Today’s win validates

his 2021 victory and earned him back to back CVGA championships after his win at the Turtleback Open in August. Congrats to our 63rd Annual CVGA

Tournament of Champions Winner!

Runner up honors went to defending champion and newly crowned Art Tangen Player of the Year Runner up Ryan Isaacson with an even par 71. The former

Blue Gold golfer played an excellent round that normally would have had him near the top.

Other top finishers included Brian Hills and Brad Johnson with 1 over par 72’s and Kieth Piotrowski and Eric Anderson with 2 over par 73’s

The Senior Tournament of Champions event was one by Steve Neuman who fired an outstanding 72 to claim the 5 stroke victory over Jan Hook

and a strong field of senior players.

The course was in excellent shape considering all of the rain and a special thanks goes out to the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club Staff.

The season ending awards are also decided and congratulations to Brandon Sperling winning both the CVGA Art Tangen Player of the Year, as well as the

Amateur of the Year. The Concordia – St. Paul golfer earned a victory at this year’s Lake Hallie Open and played solid golf throughout the full season.

His lead going into the T of C was big enough to fend off all other challengers regardless of the outcome! Congratulations to Brandon on his great play and his bright future.

As mentioned before, Ryan Isaacson claimed the Art Tangen Player of the Year runner up award by holding off a charging Thomas Longbella who finished

3rd on the season long points list. Ryan’s win at Wild Ridge and otherwise extremely consistent play was the key to his success. Congrats to Ryan on his great

season points finish.

The High School Player of the year honor was claimed by Tyler Debruckyre who is a junior at Eau Claire Memorial High School. This marks a great season for

him and a tremendous accomplishment for another young man with a bright future.

Other honorable mentions on the season long points list include top ten finishers Spenser Scholl, Eric Anderson, Matt Kamish, Chad Brennan, Tommy Marker,

Brad Johnson and Isiah Bauer. With a total of 139 golfers earning points this year, a top ten finish is a great season. Congrats to all of these excellent players!

This wraps up another outstanding CVGA Season and also marks a new page turned as long time Open Division Chairman and 2-time TOC Champion Mark Barstad

retires from his leadership role. I want to personally thank him for his efforts and diligence in leading the CVGA Open Division. Please take a moment to thank him

and wish him well next time you see him.
